“Veppam Kulir Mazhai” is an upcoming 2024 Tamil-language social thriller film written and directed by Pascal Vedamuthu and produced by Dhirav under the banner of Hashtag FDFS Production. The film features Dhirav, Ismath Banu, and MS Baskar in prominent roles.

The narrative is about “Petthaperumal” (Dhirav) and “Paandi” (Ismath Banu), a young married couple who enter their new life with love and enthusiasm. Their joy is short-lived, though, as they are subjected to tremendous pressure from society to produce a child. In their society, children are considered a necessary component of a "complete" married life, and their failure to do so is a cause of shame.

Petthaperumal, who was a man full of male ego, finds it difficult to face the jeers of society. His enemies jeer at him, and his own family even puts pressure on him. His sister asks him to marry his daughter, 15 years younger to him, while his mother asks him to leave Paandi and marry his niece.

Caught in between his passion for Paandi and what the world expects, Petthaperumal has a difficult choice to make. When Paandi herself proposes that he marry someone else so they can have a child, he agrees reluctantly but turns down modern medical interventions such as IVF because of his strong convictions. As tensions heighten, the couple has to choose if their love and union can withstand or if the expectations of society will break them.

With a tear-jerking storyline that screams cinematic excellence, "Veppam Kulir Mazhai" compels society to face some serious issues: childbearing madness, gender roles, and domestic pressure mentality. The acting by MS Baskar, which lends emotional depth to the film, is a stunning one.
