Vil Vithai (2023) is a psychological thriller film directed by S. Hari Uthraa. It features Arun Micheal Daniel, Aarathya, Janaki Amma and Guna. The film is about Mithran, a cab driver who, after the tragic assault on his child Bhavana, becomes a relentless voice against sexual predators. As he confronts the tormentors, his quest for justice draws others into a tense web of grief, courage, and societal reckoning.

Mithran, a calm car driver, and his wife, Swetha, are shattered when their beloved daughter Bhavana becomes a victim of a brutal gang assault. Traumatised and enraged, Mithran finds purpose in exposing the predators and seeking justice for his child. In his course of dealing with grief, he becomes an important witness connected with a brutal, mutilated crime scene. A case that kicks off an ominous search for the truth. The police were after these perpetrators, while a parallel story uses another police officer who struggles to stop his elementary-aged daughter from following in the same path.

At the same time, Giri, an easy-going playboy, discovers he has fathered an illegitimate daughter, Amudha, who is now at an orphanage. As the investigation continues, these seemingly unrelated lives start colliding as they are all impacted by the societal scourge of child sexual abuse. The unravelling narrative reveals haunting truths through suspense-laden sequences, veiled conspiracies, and moral reckonings. In the end, while these characters' lives intersect, the film delivers a powerful message about the much-needed social responsibility, systemic accountability, and resilience of the sexual crime problem.

Vil Vithai aims at one of society's dark realities with unflinching. It is a film that does well to show lives measured by tragedies, resilience and justice. It is worth watching when with family or friends for its emotional arc and suspense, and it courageously addresses delicate issues with sensitivity and controlled attention, while at all times keeping you hooked.
