“Vimanam” is a 2023 Telugu-language emotional drama directed by and written by Siva Prasad Yanala. Starring Samuthirakani and Master Dhruvan in the central roles, the movie follows the touching journey of an unconditional father's love for his terminally ill son and his quest to make the boy's greatest dream come true, taking a flight on an airplane.

“Veerayya” (Samuthirakani) is a physically disabled single father who earns his living as a caretaker of a public toilet at a Hyderabad slum. He is a simple man living a simple life with his son “Raju” (Master Dhruvan), who is curious and has dreams. Their universe is small but cozy, filled with compassionate neighbours: Daniel, an auto driver; Koti, a shoemaker; and Sumathi, a prostitute.

Later on, Veerayya discovers that Raju suffers from leukemia and has little time left on earth. The sole desire of Raju is to fly in an airplane. Veerayya takes it as his life mission to fulfill this dream. He struggles with poverty and attempts to borrow money from his employer but is rejected. When a big amount of money is stolen from the office, Veerayya gets arrested for it, though he is let off later when it turns out that Raju had stolen the money, thinking to do something good for his father.

Veerayya attempts all he can, doing stand-up comedies, braving humiliation, and even facing beating at the hands of goons. Through his supporting friends and neighbors, he finally gets the opportunity to purchase tickets to take a flight to Tirupati. In flight, Raju is elated at being on flight. Yet, he dies halfway during flight. Veerayya pleads with the air hostess not to reveal it until after landing the flight. Sadly, Veerayya too dies after the flight touches down.

“Vimanam” is a sincere love story of dreams, sacrifice, and love. Despite the second half dragging at places, the movie has a lasting emotional impression. It's a movie worth watching for its good performances and moving script.
