The iconic movie from the 70s Bawarchi is all set to get a modern twist with a remake. The remake has been announced officially by director Anushree Mehta. 

'Bawarchi' An Iconic 1972 Musical Comedy-Drama Starring Rajesh Khanna:

Originally directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, 'Bawarchi' starred legendary actor Rajesh Khanna in the lead. The movie also featured Jaya Bachchan and Asrani. Bawarchi was a remake of Tapan Sinha’s Bengali movie ‘Galpo Holeo Satti’, featuring Rabi Ghosh. Bawarchi was released in 1972. It was a musical comedy-drama. Bawarchi became the 8th highest-grossing movie of the year.

Anushree Mehta Takes Charge- Director Set to Honor the Legacy of 'Bawarchi' in Remake:

The remake of the movie will be directed by Anushree Mehta. According to reports Anushree's business partners Abir Sengupta (Jaadugar Films) and Sameer Raj Sippy suggested she take on the duties of writer-director for Bawarchi. Their confidence in her capability of narrating the story which will honour the original one gave her confidence to take on such responsibility.

Not much has been shared by the makers about this much-awaited remake. It will be an exciting lineup to witness because Bawarchi was one of the most iconic movies of 70s. The casting process of the movie is currently in progress.
