After gaining tremendous accolades and critical acclaim for The Dirty Picture, the makers are now working to bring us a sequel. Producer Ekta Kapoor has roped in writer Kanika Dhillon for the film and another male writer will be joining her. While the script writing is underway, actresses Taapsee Pannu and Kriti Sanon have shown interest in playing the lead this time. The original film starred Vidya Balan, Naseeruddin Shah and Emraan Hashmi. 

The script of The Dirty Picture sequel will most likely be completed by end of 2022 and the film will start rolling in the first quarter of 2023. Meanwhile Ekta was keen on Kangana Ranaut to play the lead but the Dhaakad actress has reportedly turned down the offer. The director for the film is yet to be finalized. Like last time this time too the film will be based on a bold and powerful woman.
