In the mid 1990’s the Indian Pop lived through the college corridors or on the television music channels like MTV or many others or on radio shows. During that period the pop haze had the singer and composer Leslee Lewis who was prominent . The singer composer is back in Bollywood as a playback singer for the upcoming film Zorr. 

He makes his comeback with Kan Singh Sodha’s zombie horror comedy Composer  Raju Singh had approached him for the song, the singer had understood his vision immediately as Raju said he knew the energy he wanted for the song.  The lyrics are sharp with the metaphor added to the depth.   

His earlier brush with the Bollywood was with the song a…. Dekho 2000 Zamana Aa Gaya from Aamir Khan’s film Mela in the year 2000. After which one could rarely find Leslee Lewis’s voice in Bollywood . 

Leslee Lewis never left music 

Over the last two decades Leslee has been composing producing and touring internationally and has been creating his independent projects.  

He had got famous for Colonia Cousins the band that he and Hariharan had formed giving us popular beats to the song, Krishna and Sa Ni Dha Pa.   They created music of convictions and their Colonial Cousins band still proves to be immortal.  They created music with the blend of classical roots added to the global sound without losing its essence and as he rightly said, good music never expires or never dies. 

Leslee Lewis goes on a nostalgia 

Lewis with his music led several pop hits like Yaaron and Jaanam Samjha Karo. His pivotal role in music was in 2010 when he helmed his first season with MTV Coke Studio in India . Thereafter he had his first season with 51 songs recorded in 40 days , all live and in one take.  He also recalled if he made a mistake the entire song had to be redone.
