It starred iconic Bollywood actors like Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Shabana Azmi and the late Smita Patil. Even today the film is very much relevant for its content and emotions. After nearly 4 decades the blockbuster film is being remade with a fresh cast and actor Bobby Deol will play the lead. While Sarat Chandra will produce the project, Revathi will direct it. The film is slated to go on floors soon.

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has been helpful in shaping up the script and is giving all his assistance to the makers. Producer Sarat said, “The film is very much on with Bobby Deol playing the leading man and Revathi is directing the film. There has been a delay due to the pandemic and there were certain things in the script that people had observations about. We are making changes and Mahesh Bhatt saab is helping us with the project, too.” Talking about the leading ladies, which is an exciting and prominent part of the film he said, “They are going to be established faces and you will hear the announcement very soon.”
