Veteran actor Manoj Joshi recently weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding the success of films versus the rise of Over-The-Top (OTT) streaming platforms. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025 in Goa, Joshi firmly rejected the idea that OTT has caused the "downfall" of cinematic releases.

Joshi called the notion that films are not working today due to OTT content a "myth," asserting that audiences will always return to theaters if the movie offers good content.

The actor highlighted the importance of storytelling and the positive trend of "national subjects" gaining prominence in cinema. He emphasized that regardless of technological advancements, including the emergence of AI, technology exists to serve people, not the other way around.

Manoj Joshi also reflected on the significance of IFFI as the largest Indian film festival globally, praising how the event consistently showcases Indian culture and heritage to the world. Joshi's remarks were made during the inauguration of the 56th edition of IFFI, which also featured a cinematic tribute to iconic Indian films and honored South superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna for completing 50 years in the entertainment industry.
