Life is like a roller coaster. Only destiny knows who is up and who is going to be down. And the story of life moves forward in the writing of destiny.

The story of actor Shafiq Syed is like that roller coaster. He rises to the top, then suddenly falls! And now his life wheel runs like an auto.

Who is this Shafiq

Let's go back to the flashback. The year was 1988. Director Mira Nair's film Salaam Bombay was released. The director weaved a story about Mumbai's slums and street children. The story of Mumbai's red light area also came up. Child actor Shafiq played the main character of that film, Krishna.

National Award Winning Actor Now Drives Auto to Live Life

He even won a National Award for his brilliant performance in this film. However, he still drives an auto on the streets of Bangalore. Now this is his main profession for a living. During the shooting of Mira Nair's film, he was given only 20 rupees per day and a bagel for lunch. Even though he gained fame, Shafiq could not make a place in the industry like that. No one gave him a chance.

Shafiq's autobiography, After Salaam Bombay, was recently published. In it, Shafiq recounts the story of his life's struggle. In an interview, Shafiq said, Salaam Bombay gave me an identity. But this life he is living has taught him to fight, to stay close to the ground.
