Neeraj Pandey’s upcoming film Ghooskhor Pandat’s has gathered lot of protests and has created a controversy much before its release . Many places across the country in India, the effigies of Neeraj Pandey and Manoj Bajpayee was brought down and burnt allegedly calling it an offensive title.

The film title is accused as defaming the Brahmin community whose colloquial term for Hindu priests is Pandat and ghooskhor is for corrupt.  The Rashtriya Parshuram Sena staged a protest under their banner against the filmmaker Neeraj Pandey and actor Manoj Bajpayee over the title of their upcoming film Ghooskhor Pandat in Prayagraj.  The protestors have demanded on the ban on Netflix streaming the film which was slated for its release this year  . Directed by Ritesh Shah, they said the film was made with an intention to target Hindus and Brahmins. 

What is the controversy on the upcoming film, ‘Ghooskhor Pandat’? 

The Brahmin community had staged a protest in Indore similarly and the Parshuram Sena Members who have demanded a ban on the film and threatened to blacken the faces of Manoj Bajyapee and Neeraj Pandey and the protestors have threatened to blacken their faces if their demands are not met.   

One of the protestors said, they have opposed the film and hence it should be banned.  They have also demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Censor Board of India to ban this film. 

What is the film Ghooskhor Pandat about ? 

The film Ghooskhor Pandat is a thriller starring Manoj Bajpayee as a corrupt cop, nicknamed in the film as Pandat.  Neeraj Pandey has clarified that the film is not made against any community and only the name suggested .  All promotional material and first look teaser has been brought down The BJP later claimed that this was done on the Centre’s directive. 

Meanwhile an FIR has been lodged against the filmmaker Neeraj Pandey in Lucknow for hurting the sentiments on religion and caste.  The Bharatiya Janata Party has welcomed this initiative and the move . Ghooskhor Pandat was slated for its release later in the year though no official date was announced of its release.
