In the past one week alone, several Bollywood celebrities have been the target of threats and attacks creating a panic among the film industry. These incidents have triggered the underworld reminiscent of the 1990’s and 2000s.


The most recent has been on filmmaker Rohit Shetty followed by Ranveer Singh who received a threat via voice note on Tuesday asking for a ransom. An allegedly a fresh warning and a threat targeting the actor’s staff and also the voice named the filmmaker Rohit Shetty. This comes after the recent shots fired at  Rohit Shetty’s Mumbai flat on February 1st.  A strict and vigilant security has stepped up thereafter . However, there has been no new voice note with the threats on the filmmaker after this incident. 


The Bishnoi gangster Lawrence who calls himself as Harry Boxer is the suspect and identified as the one who has sent the voice note to the superstar Ranveer Singh.  He is reportedly stated in his voice recording, that he has every detail of the managers and every person who works with Ranveer Singh and threatened he will start targeting the people who work under the actor.  He also threatened in the voice note that,  ‘We will kill your entire staff’. The new audio threat is being investigated by the Mumbai Police .


Salman Khan’s brother-in-law received a threatening email. 


On Wednesday,  actor Aayush Sharma, brother-in-law of Salman Khan also received an email with the threat said the police. The sender of the email has claimed links to the Bishnoi gang.  The Crime Branch has registered the case and are tracing the message’s origin while Mumbai Police stated that action can be only taken if complaints are filed. 


Placing the trust in the Mumbai Police, Indian Film & Television Directors Association , said if such incidents are not stopped at this level, it will only get bad and will not be restricted only to the film industry. 


As nothing else creates more than the Bollywood headlines, they are the easy prey and target. Sanjay Gupta known for directing gangster dramas such as Shootout at Wadala in 2013, shared that this age of AI, Police force is even much better. 


The FWICE (The Federation of Western India Cine Employees) has written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, seeking his intervention .  If a firing can happen in a high-profile area like Juhu, then what kind of a security do we have in the city ? 


Filmmaker Hansal Mehta stated the security has to be strengthened and strong action by law should be enforced and the industry should remain united and should refuse to be intimidated.
