Shaakuntalam, the upcoming Telugu film starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu, has been delayed by a few months. It was originally scheduled to open in theaters on February 17. The film's producers confirmed on Friday that it will now open worldwide on April 14. The creators unveiled a new poster with a release date, but did not specify the exact reason for the delay.

Samantha is the main character Shakuntala, the daughter of Menaka and Viswamithra, in Shaakuntalam. Gunasekhar will direct and produce the film, which will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. This is Samantha's first time working with Gunasekhar on a project.

In a recent speech, Samantha stated that this will be her dream project and role in the year 2020. In January, the Shaakuntalam trailer was made public. Samantha, who was overcome with emotion when she spoke at the event, said that despite the difficulties she has faced recently in her life, she still has a passion for movies. She claimed to have summoned all of her strength to attend the event. Samantha talked about how her love of movies hasn't changed despite all the difficulties in her life in recent years. She was discussing her rare autoimmune condition, Myositis, which she has had since November of last year.
