After seeing Shaan sing at renowned musician Ilaiyaraaja's studio, writer-director Papa Rao Biyyala was highly impressed. The filmmaker has offered the Tanha Dil singer a role in his upcoming film Music School where Shaan will be playing the role of an actor and singer. The film will also star Sharman Joshi and Shriya Saran and Shaan will play the latter’s ex in the film. He will get to show his acting abilities in the film as well as sing a song. 

On choosing Shaan for the part, director Biyyala said, “The minute I saw Shaan sing at Ilaiyaraaja's studio, I knew that the presence of no other singer would fit the bill in the movie. I welcome him on board. As a singer he has regaled listeners for many years, with 'Music School' he will be seen charming the audience through acting and singing. The musical has a lot of exciting things in store for the audience and we can't wait to meet them in theatres.”

Music school will release in Hindi and Telugu and choreographed by Broadway choreographer Adam Murray. The film also stars Suhasini Mulay, Benjamin Gilani, Prakash Raj, Telugu comedian Brahmanandam, Vinay Varma, Mona Ambegaonkar, Gracy Goswami and Ozu Barua. The film is Produced by Yamini Films and gives an account of how the education system pressures the children to be doctors, engineers, etc, leaving hardly any scope to pursue a career in arts and sports.
