Bhumi Pednekar and Ishaan Khatter’s starrer The Royals is the talk of the town. The show marks Bhumi’s OTT debut. It features her as a self-made startup’s CEO partnered with a modern prince enacted by Ishaan Khatter.
As Sofia Kanmani Shekhar, Bhumi portrays a well-crafted character and thereby represents some strong female entrepreneurs such as Radhika Merchant for Encore Healthcare, Ghazal Alagh, the co-founder of Honasa Consumer, Namita Thapar, the Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, and Vineeta Singh, the CEO of Sugar Cosmetics.
Bhumi Pednekar’s portrayal pays the tribute to the trail-blazing businesswoman. This unique portrayal showcases her ability to challenge the stereotypes and the typical glamorous image. Sofia’s character subtly reflects the intellectual skill, ambition, and the impact of a female powerhouse. With yet another role, Bhumi is also preparing for Daldal, an upcoming Amazon Prime thriller where she enacts the role of a police officer.
Meanwhile, the series’ cast includes Bhumi Pednekar, Ishaan Khatter, Sakshi Tanwar, Zeenat Aman, Nora Fatehi, Chunky Panday, Milind Soman, and Dino Morea. It will stream on JioHotstar on 16th May, 2025. It is created by Rangita Pritish Nandy and Ishita Pritish Nandy. The Royals premieres on Netflix on 9th May, 2025.
