Bollywood’s melody queen left the world for her heavenly abode on February 6th but her voice lives on. She has given India a treasure trove of beautiful songs to last a lifetime. Lyricist Manoj Muntashir recently shared how the late Veer Zaara singer had asked him to pen a song about Lord Ram. Lataji passed away before he could complete his song. He regrets not getting a opportunity to hear her sing that song.

Manoj said, “Mere zindagi ka pehla geet jo maine likha tha woh Lata Mangeshkar ji ne gaya tha. Ek din mujhe phone aata hai Lata ji ka- ‘ek geet aap mere liye likhe jo Ram pe ho’. Mai sekdo gaane likh chuka hu. Ek adhura geet jo maine unke liye likha par woh kabhi gaa nahi paayi , woh jeevan bhar mere seene mai phas bankar khatakta rahega. Chali gayi didi aur kaise gayi. Kisine kaha tha kahani khatam hui aur aisi khatam hui ki log rone lage taaliyan bajate hue.”

Muntashir is known for writing lyrics for popular Bollywood songs like Galliyan' from Ek Villain, 'Tere Sang Yaara' from Rustom, 'Teri Mitti' from Kesari, among others. He has also written Hindi dialogues for Prabhas starrer Baahubali 2 and scripts for reality shows like India's Got Talent and Indian Idol Junior.
