Known to feature in a number of Gujarati and Hindi films, veteran actor-writer-director, former theatre artist Mahesh Desai passed away on 13th April in Mumbai. The 95 year old was bedridden since quite a while following a hip fracture. His final rights were performed at Chandanwadi, Marine Lines. 

 

The veteran’s real name was Oliver Desai but he used Mahesh as his screen name for his film career. Desai has written and directed many films. He had also featured in Bollywood films like ‘Pakshiraj’, ‘Baharon Ke Manzil’, ‘Aakrant’, ‘Sant Tulsidas’, ‘Shiv Bhakta Baba Balak’, ‘Nath’, ‘Gupt Gyan, Kshitij’, ‘Balak Aur Janwar’, ‘Nagin Aur Suhagan’, ‘Jai Baba Amarnath’ and ‘Insaaf Ki Jung’, among others.
