The role was eventually played by Shabana Azmi in the film. Soha Ali Khan opened up that the treatment was done without the chemo as her cancer was diagnosed at stage zero. The family expressed that they went through an extremely stressful situation for many months and that Sharmila Tagore was diagnosed with Lung cancer, one of the few people who went through the recovery without the chemo, as it was an early detection of the dreadful disease. The yesteryear heroine is fine. Her health issues were raised during her candid conversation along with her son, Saif Ali Khan, on the popular television show Koffee with Karan in 2023. The actress also revealed she had not taken the COVID-19 vaccination; therefore, for her cancer, they did not want to take any risk. However, the actress is hale and hearty now and recently acted in the Bengali film titled Puratawan alongside Rituparna Sengupta, which released today.
