Vir Das’s directorial debut, Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos is set to hit the screens today and indicates a crazy comedy !  On the eve of the film release Vir Das donning the director’s hat expresses why he chose to make a spy comedy and it meant reuniting with Aamir Khan and Imran Khan together. 

How did the shift happen by donning many hats? From comedian to writer to actor to director ? 

Vir Das the co-director clarified that he and Kavi Shastri made everything together for the longest time, but this script lived in their heads.  As a stand up , one can control the lighting,  the vibes and every content of the film and being a director comes closest to what one can expect.  He said as an actor he has to submit to someone else’s vision but being a director, it’s the closest experience to control. In this film there are several factors that led to not just his performance but several other factors. 

Vir Das went on to say being a director one starts trusting over 200 people who are trying to get into your mind set and make it better . After 15 years of being  an artist it is nice one has a crew and efficient ones who did the costume designing of Sacred games , the colorist worked on Homebound earlier and the director of photography had shot legendary films , while his music director was the one who did Jigra

Vir Das got emotional that this film was tiny but with the crew that was so experienced including having Aamir Khan on board along with Imran Khan.
