The age-old Indian tradition of giving and taking dowry has destroyed many happy marriages and relationships. Till today however, many communities still follow this ritual of so called gifting expensive valuables to the groom’s family by the bride’s family. Inspite of not being able to afford and they themselves having never used such items like washing machine, laptops, refrigerators, cars, bikes, etc. the brides family gives it to their daughters so they don’t get harassed by their in-laws for it.
The story of Aakhir Kab Tak deals with this issue if dowry system in India. But the movie also has an interesting take on men’s as well as women’s perspective on the issue. Especially the way it affects the bride’s and groom’s family. There is a complex problem faced by both parties sometimes which this movie brings to the fore.
The movie is directed by Mithilesh Avinash and written and produced by Nishikant Jha. The music is composed by Jayant Aryan and the cinematography is by D K Sharma. The star cast of the movie includes Vinay Rana and Manisha Singh.
