"Arrambam" is a Tamil action thriller film released in 2013, directed by Vishnuvardhan. Ajith Kumar, Arya, Nayanthara, and Taapsee Pannu star in this film. The film tracks the story of an undercover man and a talented hacker who join forces to reveal a huge government hoax, triggering a series of perilous events.

The film starts with Ashok Kumar or A. K. (Ajith Kumar), leaving bombs at public locations and informing the police moments before the explosions. Along with his sidekick Maya (Nayanthara), he coerces a computer hacker, Arjun (Arya), to assist him in entering top-level systems. Ashok threatens influential individuals such as Sriram Raghavan (Aadukalam Naren) in order to learn about black money and later murders him. Arjun becomes suspicious of Ashok's intentions and reports him to the police but is later let off when the truth behind his true identity is revealed. Maya later clarifies Ashok's true intention. Ex-cop of the Anti-Terrorist Squad, Ashok seeks to uncover a scam related to counterfeit bulletproof vests that cost his friend Sanjay and countless others their lives. The scam involves corrupt Home Minister Mahadev Rane (Mahesh Manjrekar) and his men.

Ashok, Maya, and later Arjun unite to expose the perpetrators. They go to Dubai to trap Mahadev's daughter and route his illegal money through an imitation bank account. Maya kills Ramya, a conspirator. Ashok kidnaps Mahadev in Kashmir in the last act and makes him confront his offences. Inspector Prakash, realising Ashok's intentions, allows the bombs to explode, killing Mahadev. Arjun and Anitha (Taapsee), his girlfriend, get married, and Ashok utilises the ill-gotten money for social welfare. But the twist towards the conclusion is that Arjun and Anitha get kidnapped while on honeymoon.

"Arrambam" features a taut plot and strong performances, especially by Ajith Kumar, who holds the screen with authority. The action is slick, and the film's message of corruption and justice is well-defined. Even though some of the turns are expected, the emotional flashbacks and fast pace add depth. As a commercial thriller, Arrambam is filled with enough action, drama, and suspense and is one of the best Tamil action films to watch in 2013.
