Vikram and Sumer are close friends where the former comes from a wealthy household of zamindars while the latter comes from a poor family. Post independence the government puts restriction on the amount of land that is owned by the zamindars. The excess land is asked to be distributed to the famers. This doesn’t augment well with Thakur and his son Deven. They have a meeting with the Sarpanch and decide to distribute the excess land to their relatives and take thumb impression of the farmers. However this leads a lot of chaos as the famers disagree. Deven in anger shoots one of the villagers and this causes a stir among them. They beat up Deven to death. His brother Vikram is furious and kills many villagers and sets their hutments on fire.

 

When Sumer returns to the village he is shocked at the extent of destruction caused and thus breaks his friendship with Vikram. Sumer marries one of the orphans whose family member was killed by Vikram. One day a police inspector comes for investigation and kicks his pregnant wife in anger. Thus Sumer too becomes a bandit and goes on a rampage killing police officers. Soon Vikram and Sumer join forces to destroy their gang leaders and give villagers their rights. The film is directed by J P Dutta and produced by Salim Akhtar. The music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal and the story is written by J P Dutta. The star cast includes Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna, Dimple Kapadia, Poonam Dhillon, Amrita Singh, Amrish Puri, Vijayendra, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Amrit Pal, Bharat Kapoor, Ram Mohan and Avtar Gill.
