Dhrubor Aschorjo Jibon (The Strange Life of Dhrubo) is a genre-bending Bengali crime drama and science-fiction film directed by Abhijit Chowdhury, blending morality, destiny, and human complexity into an inventive cinematic experience.

Premiering at the Kolkata International Film Festival in December 2024 and releasing in Indian theatres on February 28, 2025, the film follows the extraordinary life of Dhrubo, a young man standing at a critical crossroads.When Dhrubo becomes entangled in a desperate attempt to save his girlfriend’s family — while also seeking answers about his mysterious origins — he finds himself confronted with four distinct choices, each leading to a radically different version of his life.

As these branching paths unfold, reality begins to shift, weaving together themes of love, justice, truth, compassion, and the uncertainty of human existence. Structured into four chapters, the film pays a thoughtful tribute to the artistic philosophies of four iconic Bengali masters — Jamini Roy, Gaganendranath Tagore, Bikash Bhattacharya, and Benode Behari Mukherjee — with each chapter reflecting their unique visual and thematic styles.

Featuring standout performances by Rishav Basu, Ritwika Pal, Korak Samanta, and Anandarupa Chakraborty, along with seasoned talents Debesh Chattopadhyay and Badsha Maitra, Dhrubor Aschorjo Jibon is a profound exploration of how a single decision can transform an entire life — or create many lives at once.
