Akash, played by Aamir Khan, Sid, played by Akshaye Khanna and Sameer, played by Saif Ali Khan, are three close friends since college. They have loads of fun together and love to play pranks on each other. However when the three men meet their three women they love, everything changes. Akash, meets Shalini, played by Preity Zinta at a club and instantly falls in love with her but her boyfriend Rohit gives Akash a black eye for flirting with her. Sameer is dating a girl who he desperately wants to break up with and he does. But then his parents ask him to have an arranged marriage. He hates the idea and tells the girl Pooja his thoughts and she completely agrees, as she is in love with another man. Sameer seems to have fallen in love with Pooja.

 

Sid meanwhile falls for the older woman Tara who he randomly meets one day. But his friends disapprove and even make fun of him for being in love with a woman who is 20 years older to him plus is an alcoholic. They tears the friendship apart. Akash is slapped by Sid for his derogatory remarks and he leaves for Australia to handle his dad’s business and meets Shalini once again and they both fall in love. Tara is hospitalized due to her excessive drinking and this unites the three friends again. Sameer eventually confesses his love to Pooja and she accepts and Akash fights Shalini’s arrogant boyfriend to win over her family and they get married.

 

The movie is directed by Farhan Akhtar and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar. The music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
