Sachin, played by Prateik Babbar studies mechanical engineering but aspires to be a filmmaker some day. His friend introduces him to a cinematographer named Anay and he starts his career as an assistant director to Ramesh Sippy. Sachin’s family live in a rented apartment owned by Jessie, played by Amy Jackson and her catholic family. Sachin falls madly in love with Jessie when he sees her. He tries to befriend her but she is afraid talking to unknown men, as her father dislikes it.
Sachin unable to hide his feelings, confesses his love to Jessie, who simply ignores his advances. Later he learns that she has left for Kerala and follows her there with his friend. She later introduces him as his classmate to her extended family. She tells him that her father will never agree to her marrying a Hindu. On the way back from Kerala the two get close and fall in love. When her father gets a clue of her affair, he immediately fixes her marriage but on the wedding day Jessie refuses to wed her groom and later confesses her feelings to Sachin.
After a few days Sachin travels for work and Jessie contacts him telling him to elope with her but he tells her to wait for his return. The moment passes by and Jessie decides to break up with him. He hears of the news of her having gotten married and settled abroad. A heartbroken Sachin decides to make a film on his love story titled Jessie. Later he meets Jessie and she tells him that she is yet unmarried and the two unite and get married the same day.
The movie is directed by Gautham Menon and produced by Elfred Kumar, Jayaraman and Gautham Menon. The music is composed by A.R Rahman and Javed Akhtar.
