Melodrama "Ente Upasana," directed by Bharathan (1984) it starred Mammootty, Suhasini and Nedumudi Venu. It’s about Lathika, a young woman blissfully engaged to her cousin. Her world is torn apart when she is raped by her brother’s friend, becoming pregnant.

Lathika, a single mother to Jagadish, lives joyously in her village with her widowed mother, cousin Sreekumar and their family. She falls in love with her cousin working in the Gulf and is betrothed to him. Sreekumar departs for the Gulf, and Lathika awaits his return and their marriage to be. One rainy day, Arjunan, a close friend’s brother, rapes Lathika, who becomes pregnant. Lathika shifts to a big city and delivers a baby, and her mother passes away due to shock.

In the present, Lathika encounters Arjunan, who is her boss and resides with her best friend. One day, Lathika’s son falls ill with a fever and gets admitted to the hospital. Arjunan moves him to a private room, and Latikha gets a surprise to find him and his mother tending to him. Sreekumar, her former lover, learns of Lathika’s ordeal and is amazed. Lathika moves back to her village, goes back to her grandmother and aunt, and they both live together as a family with her son.

"Ente Upasana" delves into deep personal loss and strength. The movie shows her fight to reconstruct her life in this new setting, grappling with both internal and external issues. It ends up being a story about her healing, acceptance and finding a new sort of family, about her strength in adversity.
