“Mamangam” is a Malayalam-period action film of 2019, written and directed by M. Padmakumar and produced by Kavya Film Company. Mammootty, Unni Mukundan, Achuthan, and Siddiqui feature in prominent roles. The story takes place in 17th-century Kerala during the celebration of the massive Mamangam festival held on the banks of the Bharathapuzha River, where warriors called Chuvarukal face Zamorin rulers to defend justice.
The film is about a 12-year-old warrior named “Chandroth Valiya Panikkar”, who wishes to fight the mighty Zamorin army. He gets trained by skilled warriors and becomes a part of the Chuvarukal and comes along with the fearless fighter Unni Mukundan in guiding the young boy throughout the battles.
It is during this preparation that Chandroth gets into an acquaintance with a mysterious character named Chaver, portrayed by Mammootty, who stays in disguise. Many questions go unanswered. Who is he? What is he hiding? And with whom does he have a connection during the rebellion?
The narration contains some secret acts that open previous unidentified treasuries and sacrifices among its characters. Given the fact that Chandroth was prepared to enter battle with the king of Zamorin, which also had all forces he was strong on, was the only obstruction, how well he can serve against his foes.
