Directed by M. Krishnan Nair, "Manithali" 1984 Malayalam Drama Starring Mammootty, Prem Nazir, Seema and Unnimary. The movie is about Judgal Abu, who’s a greedy, selfish man and becomes jealous of his rich neighbour Kunjumuhammed. Wanting to draw profit from his wealth, he intends to marry his daughter off to Kunjumuhammed. To do this, he attempts to sabotage her existing marriage and divide her from her doting husband.

Zulfikar and Ramlath are a blissful married duo, yet their existence is no picnic. Zulfikar’s family don’t approve of their marriage, and Ramlath’s father, Judgal Abu, is furious as Zulfikar refuses to hand over his money. Then one day, Judgal Abu encounters Kunjumuhammed, a wealthy, divorced individual who has come back to the village. Wanting to squeeze money out of him, Judgal Abu instigates a confusion between Zulfikar and Ramlath.

He deceives Zulfikar into divorcing Ramlath. Heartbroken, Zulfikar departs the village. Judgal Abu then compels Ramlath to wed Kunjumuhammed. On their wedding night, Ramlath informs Kunjumuhammed that she is carrying Zulfikar’s baby. Kunjumuhammed is shocked but gets her. Rather than being mad, he vows to Ramlath that he’ll locate Zulfikar and return him. It demonstrates the way that selfishness can destroy life, but empathy and compassion can mend broken hearts.

"Manithali" explores raw human emotions, family feuds, and the corrosive nature of greed. Best of all, the film brilliantly captures the way self-absorbed quests wreak havoc on the people around us. With heart and compelling characters, the film holds your attention from start to finish. Its nuanced story and its message of forgiveness and empathy make it a standout viewing experience.
