"Nallavanukku Nallavan" by S. P. Muthuraman is a 1984 action film. It stars Rajinikanth, Radhika, Karthik and Thulasi. The story revolves around Gangadharan, a kind-hearted man who rehabilitates a wayward youth, Manickam, and subsequently passes on his business empire to him, leading to strife with his son.

Manickam, a rogue, rescues Uma, an orphan, from goons and leaves her at home. He discovers Uma is gone, and they get married. Manickam assures Uma that he will not resort to violence, and he turns himself in to police inspector Azhagarsamy. He’s out of prison and working at his factory, Victory Industries. When Gangadharan is bankrupt, he pays off every penny and hands all his riches over to Manickam before he dies.

Manickam operates Victory Industries and oversees the finances of Gangadharan’s family. His son Vinod hates Manickam and attempts to get back at him by indoctrinating and marrying Priya. Uma succumbs to a heart attack, and Manickam gives all his riches and properties to Vinod. Sadhasivam attempts to murder Vinod to seize his fortune. Priya notifies Manickam. Manickam trounces Sadhasivam’s goons, rescuing Vinod. His pal Thakkali heads up Sadhasivam for the policeman. Manickam reconciles with Vinod and Priya, but is deterred by Priya informing him of her pregnancy with Vinod.

"Nallavanukku Nallavan" is a heart-pounding action drama that combines passion, redemption and loyalty with life-and-death tussling. It packs solid character arcs, powerful confrontations and a moving message about sacrifice and forgiveness. With its crisp pace and hitting-the-heartstrings moments, it captures transformation and self-actualisation and delivers good gunfire and drama for the old-timers.
