“Pambattam” is a Tamil horror thriller film written and directed by V. C. Vadivudaiyan and produced by V. Palanivel. It features Jeevan, Mallika Sherawat, Rittika Sen, and Saipriya Deva in important roles. The film revolves around a hardworking police officer who is appointed to solve a haunted palace, which is rumored to be possessed by the ghost of a deceased queen. The deeper he probes, the more his and his son's lives are threatened. Can they find the truth and live through the terrors that lie ahead?

The narrative of the film takes place over several decades, with a major flashback about “Queen Mallika” (Mallika Sherawat), who is killed by a snakebite under mysterious conditions. The ghostly figure of the queen and the unexplained deaths within the palace contribute to the spooky ambiance. Meanwhile, the cop's son becomes infatuated with “Radhika” (Rittika Sen), blindly loyal to him, but she is not the kind of depthful relationship anyone would want to have. When supernatural occurrences amplify, the officer comes to terms with the palace having more than he could ever have imagined.

Although “Pambattam” has a thrilling premise, execution is lacking. The visual effects, particularly the computer-generated snake, do little to instill fear, tend to make crucial scenes inadvertently laughable. Jeevan is better when he is portraying the cop compared to when he is playing his son, although the poor development of the characters takes away from the emotional force. Rittika Sen's character seems out of date, and Mallika Sherawat's queen remains unconvincing, her dubbed voice more doing than showing.

In spite of its promise, “Pambattam” faces challenges with outdated narration, exaggerated performances, and unintentional comedy. While it tries to be a gripping horror thriller, it ends up being more comical than scary.
