“Park” is a Tamil horror thriller film that has been directed by E. K. Murugan and produced by L. N. E. Natraj under the Akshaya Movie Makers. The film stars Thaman Kumar and Swetha Dorathy in the main roles, and the story is about a young couple whose love life gets terrible.

“Mitran”, a shy worker of a DTH outlet, becomes infatuated with “Yazhni”, one of his regular clients. With the help of his friend Dish, he wins her heart, and love blooms. Their love story is, however, disrupted when goons start chasing them for some unknown reason. During the chase, they take shelter in an abandoned park, but they are unaware of its bloody history.

When they enter, they are quickly possessed by the spirits of a murdered couple seeking vengeance. Under the control of their spirits, Mitran and Yazhni become uncontrollable with rage, their bodies transforming with raw, brutal strength. The spirits make them go on the search for their killers, using them as vessels of vengeance. Confronted with this awful situation, the couple is forced to fight to regain control before the ghosts completely annihilate them.

With a compelling setup, “Park” fails to deliver an effective horror experience. The film is bogged down in an uninspired romance at the beginning, keeping the supernatural action back. When horror finally occurs, it comes without the chilling atmosphere that is essential for the genre. Over-the-top anger and loud performances take the place of creepy scenes instead. With the old-fashioned presentation and the lousy scares, “Park” cannot make an impression.
