"Pasanga 2" (2015) is a children's film, written, directed, and produced by Pandiraj. Starring child stars Nishesh and Vaishnavi with Ramdoss, Vidya Pradeep, and Bindu Madhavi, special appearances are also made by Suriya and Amala Paul. It addresses Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children and its impact on the children's learning and family life.
Kavin (Nishesh) and Naina (Vaishnavi) are two intelligent but hyperactive children who are expelled from several schools because of their naughty conduct. Their parents, not being able to comprehend their actions, keep sending them from school to school. The children finally find Thamizh Nadan (Suriya), a child psychiatrist, and his soft-hearted wife, Venba (Amala Paul). After being remitted to a disciplinary hostel and being neglected, Kavin and Naina escape and secretly track down Thamizh's kid's home. Given their condition, Thamizh advises them to go to a school where Venba works, which is stress-free and free, where kids are allowed to study. Even though reluctant, the parents take them there.
In the new school, Kavin and Naina start appreciating learning. They are selected, along with Abhiman (son of Thamizh and Venba), to sing in a talent show. On stage, Kavin dances, whereas Naina emotionally narrates her life story. Thamizh and Venba leave the function after their performance in silence. When questioned why, they just said that their ambition was to participate and not win. Being a truthful method, this makes Kavin and Naina's parents question their own blunders and attitudes. The kids also begin to look at their previous conduct. The film concludes with a positive message when both families unite joyously. A montage towards the end brings forward noted personalities who had ADHD, revealing that these children too can make a difference.
"Pasanga 2" is a sensitive, meaningful film that carries a strong social message on parenting, educational pressure, and child psychology. Pandiraj handles the subject matter with sensitivity and humour. Suriya and Amala Paul's cameo is authoritative, while the kids' acting leaves us amazed. With its simplicity in narration, rich visual appeal, and emotional undertones, the film encourages acceptance, understanding, and freedom in child-rearing.
