“Shantala” is a Telugu drama movie directed by Sheshu Peddi Reddy, featuring Nihal Kodhaty and Ashlesha Thakur in key roles, while Vinod Kumar appears in a vital supporting role. The movie is produced by Dr. Irrinki Suresh under the production banner Indo American Arts. The film presents the emotional existence of a girl from a village fighting against oppression.

The story revolves around “Shantala”, an orphan child who is raised by “Doddappa and Gundamma” in a village. Her peaceful life is turned to tragedy when the Zamindar, who is renowned for exploiting young girls, develops an interest in her. Shantala is not made a victim, however. She has the support of “Rajasekhar”, a benevolent individual, and a sympathetic dance teacher, and she resists the cruelty of the Zamindar. Her life also includes the influence of Koila, a stubborn woman, and mysterious Queen Shantala Devi, whose family is a central figure in the events that unfold.

Shantala, symbol of rebellion, represents the villagers in their struggle against justice. Her persistent battle against the cruel Zamindar elicited heart-breaking, courageous, and unexpected friendships. The film is symbolic of hope, justice, and the triumph of solidarity over tyranny.

“Shantala” is an intriguing film with compelling performances, notably by Ashlesha Thakur, whose depth is infused into the character. The movie's dramatic and emotional quotient coupled with the interest generated, all held audiences attentive. Additions from ex-Vice President Venkaiah Naidu as well as a report of winning the National Award serve to boost popularity. Blended with both forceful story narration and enthralling performances, “Shantala” presents a very inspiring journey of rebellion and strength.
