Shotyi Bole Shotyi Kichhu Nei is Srijit Mukherji’s gripping 2025 Bengali-language legal thriller, adapted from the classic Ek Ruka Hua Faisla and inspired by Sidney Lumet’s 12 Angry Men.
Backed by Shree Venkatesh Films, the film features a powerhouse ensemble—Kaushik Ganguly, Parambrata Chatterjee, Kaushik Sen, Ritwick Chakraborty, Anirban Chakrabarti, Ananya Chatterjee, Arjun Chakrabarty, Rahul Banerjee, Sauraseni Maitra, Kanchan Mullick, Phalguni Chatterjee and Suhotra Mukhopadhyay.
Set entirely within the tense confines of a jury room, the story unfolds as twelve jurors debate what appears to be an open-and-shut murder case. But when one juror challenges the verdict, doubt sparks conflict, and truth becomes far more complicated than it seems. With sharp performances, tight writing, and escalating tension, the film probes bias, morality, and the burden of justice. Named after the iconic line “Ashole Shotyi Bole Shotyi Kichhu Nei” from Anupam Roy’s song “Ei Srabon,” the film was shot in a remarkably short schedule between June and July 2024.
Amit Chatterjee’s music and Subhadeep Guha’s background score heighten the atmospheric intensity, while Prosenjit Chowdhury’s cinematography and Sanglap Bhowmik’s editing craft a compelling, claustrophobic drama. Released theatrically on 23 January 2025—coinciding with Netaji Jayanti—the film received widespread praise for its stellar cast, lean runtime, layered characterization, and Srijit Mukherji’s masterful direction.
