Sui Dhaaga which means the Needle and the thread is a social drama film directed by Sharat Kataria released in February 2018 and was produced by Maneesh Sharma for the banner Yash Raj Films. Starring Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma as the young couple in a Rural India set in a small town Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh.
Mauji ( Varun Dhawan) a young man whose life has not been easy, being ill treated by his father who has never ceased to curse him, his employer treating him like a dog but the happy go lucky man has never complained and has been doing his duties diligently. Despite being married for years he and his wife had never got the privacy to be with each other and he appears to the world as a useless man.
Mauji is off course a champion in the art of tailoring which his father thinks is a not a good mode of occupation, however his young wife Mamta role played by Anushka Sharma encourages him to start his own clothing business and he sets off to be self-employed with just one sewing machine. His wife Mamta is his only constant support and in no time the couple see a positive approach towards their new found clothing business. The couple is seen fighting all odds and hardships during this journey but they do not give up and have learnt to fight for their responsibility and to make their dream come true.
