URI: The Surgical Strike, the 2019 Action Film written and directed by Aditya Dhar in his debut as the director, producer Ronnie Screwala under the banner of RSVP Movies.
The film starring Vicky Kaushan, Paresh Rawal, Mohit Raian and Yami Gautam in the leading roles is a fictionalized story on the backdrop of 2016 URI attack based on the true events of September 2016. Director Aditya Dhar declared this film as a tribute to the brave Indian Army or the Brave New India.
The war drama film is divided into five parts with the film opening in June 2015 leading up with the retaliatory surgical strike conducted by the Indian Army against the Militants launch pads in Pakistan. The film is mind blowing with the guns and grenades exploding with the pulsating soundtrack that the film leaves you with looking up to the Indian Army with pride and respect.
Vicky Kaushal as the central character, Vihaan Singh Shergil looks dignified as the Major in his Army uniform and a true patriot as the Army Officer and a thorough gentleman when it comes to being a ladies’ man ! . The story takes you back to the Indian Army base in URI where in 19 soldiers were killed and Indian Government subsequently decides to retaliate with surgical strike. Vihaan Singh’s brother-in-law Mohit Raina is also in the Army and one among the killed soldiers. The sorrowful Major not only wants to avenge his brother-in-law’s death but also stand up and fight for his country and his Army men.
The film received stand ovation in many theatres and ran houseful in all the theatres. The film has received positive reviews and in the first week of its release has already earned 35.73 crore.
The makers of URI :The Surgical Strike have donated Rs. 1 Crore to the Army Widows on the 71st Indian Army Day. A Brilliant film that no Indian should miss as the film is pride of India and the Army that showcases the professionalism , planning and dedication of the Armed Forces.
