Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta’s Lahore 1947 is all set to hit the big screen on August 13th 2026.

While Border 2 is already receiving widespread love and has set the box office on fire, promos of his next upcoming film Ikka is already making headlines for good reasons. Meanwhile the action superstar has announced the theatrical release date of the much-awaited film.

Sunny Deol is among the few Bollywood actors who has a slate of releases ahead this year. 

Lahore 1947

Backed by Aamir Khan Productions, Lahore 1947 is officially scheduled for its release to coincide with the Independence Day weekend on 13th August 2026. The Production banner took to the social media to share for the first time the collaboration between Aamir Khan, Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi. Their Instagram post shared, the announcement of the film Lahore 1947 and the release date. 

Lahore 1947 is to be released on a Thursday which means it is banking on the 4-day long weekend . The release aims to be a repeat of Gadar 2 hysteria which was released on Independence Day in 2023 and saw its theatrical dream run. However, Lahore 1947 will have its release along with multiple other films released during the same weekend 

Lahore 1947 is based on a popular Punjabi Play Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya O Kamya E Nai which is written by Asghar Wajahat. Besides Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta, the other star cast include, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, and the music is composed by A R Rahman with lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar. 

While Aamir Khan is bankrolling the project, it is Rajkumar Santoshi’s regular collaborator, Sunny Deol with whom he has directed the film. Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi have previously worked in Ghatak, Damini and Ghayal and Lahore 1947 would be their fourth collaboration 

Ghatak 2

Besides Lahore 1947, there’s a buzz going around that Santoshi is also working on Ghatak 2 and if that gets materialized the duo, the iconic actor-director will reunite for the 5th time.
