Abbas Tyrewala is currently enjoying success as a dialogue writer for the film Pathaan, which stars Shah Rukh Khan. He has directed two films, Jhootha Hi Sahi (2010) and the cult classic Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na (2008). However, following the 2010 film starring John Abraham, he has solely focused on writing for Bang Bang, 2.0, War, and Pathaan.

Last year, word got out that Tyrewala was going to be the showrunner for a web series that Siddharth Roy Kapur was making. "Right now I am working on a show, which is an espionage thriller I am doing for Disney+ Hotstar and Roy Kapur Films," he stated. That is my work as the showrunner and writer. Since last year, that is really what has kept me busy. He also has other projects in the works. He added, "It's way too early to talk about a few other projects that are also based on OTT," but they aren't yet public.

Tyrewala went on to say that he enjoys the freedom that comes with using the internet. With the exception of the writing part, my actual focus when it comes to making is more on shows because of the variety of storytelling that can be done there and the opportunities for more progressive and risky storytelling; That really excites me. Because a Hindi film is primarily intended to be a family-friendly entertainment, you probably won't be able to do that.
