The actor revealed that he is waiting for the release of his Bhooth Bangla much ahead of its speculation. He also officially confirmed that the much-awaited film on war drama Gorkha is not being made and is shelved.
Akshay Kumar responded to a fan’s question the actor during a live chat mentioned that there is no further development on the making of Gorkha film and he clarified the fate of the war film was in a limbo for quite some time.
In 2023, filmmaker Aanand L Rai had addressed the film’s uncertain status and while dismissing the rumours of Akshay Kumar exiting the project, he had acknowledged that Gorkha has been put on hold due to the technical challenges as well as getting the factual details of the real-life story due to which the project has been delayed.
Akshay Kumar had aimed to bring forth the inspiring story of Major General Cardozo to the wider audience.
Gorkha collaboration was to be between Colour Yellow Productions and Cape of Good Films. Directed by National Award winning, filmmaker, Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan had envisioned on a biopic of a decorated Indian Army Officer Ian Cardazo by highlighting his bravery and contribution towards the major wars that included the 1971 Indo-Pak battle.
The project Gorkha had generated significant buzz soon after its announcement especially the first look of the poster with Akshay Kumar in his powerful avatar that showed him vengeance, was inspired by the war hero. It was also a passionate project for the actor aiming to bring an inspiring story of Major General Cardozo to the wider audience.
After years of delays and the unresolved hurdles, the makers decided the film has to officially be shelved. With Akshay Kumar also shifting his focus on the new ventures, that also included the concluding of Bhooth Bangla which now stands as a promising project and will ultimately make it to the big screen.
