More than a month after music composer A R Rahman had described the film Chhaava as a divisive film. The Chhaava writer Rishi Virmani addressed the controversy.  Directed by Laxman Utekar, starring actor Vicky Kaushal, the historical drama is based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The film had received immense support from the public but it had also faced criticism from certain quarters.

Virmani dismissed the idea that Chhaava film alone could single-handedly influence social or political thinking.

The writer said, it’s hard to believe that an entire mindset can be changed in just a couple of hours of watching a film. He further highlighted that he had not seen this kind of attachment from the audience towards a film in a long time and the fact that the viewers could connect with the story on their own terms, it’s the audience independent judgement Afterall.  Audience went against the industry predictions and delivered verdicts that had surprised the filmmakers.

Earlier music maestro AR Rahman had called, the film ‘Divisive’.

The controversy on the film ‘Chhaava’ began after Rahman who had composed the music and the background score for the film shared his candid conversation with the BBC Asian Network. He casually mentioned in his interview that the film is divisive but the core of it is to show the bravery.

It is an enjoyable film but definitely people watching the film are smarter to get influenced by just a movie ?  Rahman said the people have something called the internal conscience which knows what the truth is and what manipulation is.
