The recently produced film ‘Kannappa’ that features ‘Vishnu Manchu’ seems to have landed in a very serious trouble, with a recently reported stolen hard drive containing about 90 minutes of essential footage that captures core cutting action scenes and VFX. Furthermore, the film is also set to release on 27th June 2025.
The theft of a 90-minute visual effects drive sparks panic among filmmakers
In relation to the incident of theft, it has been reported that the hard drive was alternatively going to be delivered from Hive Studios, located in Mumbai, to 24 Frames Factory, which is a known production house behind the film. This case of a missing hard drive during transportation is being viewed as an act of intentional stalling of the project.
Also, as with filing a missing complaint, the production team had filed a missing complaint as well and approached the Film Nagar police station in Hyderabad.
Hard drive containing unreleased VFX scenes disappears in transit
The added burden can also be blamed on the increased release dates, which is a tough pill to swallow for a nation that looks forward to an added dose of entertainment through this star packed cast, including Prabhas, Mohanlal, Mohan Babu, and even Akshay Kumar are still to feature.
Focus is now majorly shifted towards strengthened guidelines to ensure such sensitive materials and documents stay under lock and key to avoid any further such scenarios, delaying the projected release dates. All through, the production house has warned that if anybody attempts to leak any sort of footage could result in dire backslaps from the eyes of the law.
