In a first-hand conversation with India Today, Zoya Akhtar agreed to the renewal and revealed, "Yes, Reema has an idea. She has already started working on the script.  The news has been greeted with vigor by fans anticipating a more in-depth exploration of the world of the series.

The initial season, released on Prime Video on May 12, 2023, introduced audiences to Sub-Inspector Anjali Bhaati, played by Sonakshi Sinha, as she delves into a chain of inexplicable vanishings within a small town in Rajasthan. The series won acclaim for its engaging plot and robust performances, specifically Sinha's rendition of the spirited and hardy officer
