The movie promises a breathtaking cinematic experience and is a tribute to the rich legacy of the Maratha Icon Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.  Helmed by Riteish Deshmukh the film was unveiled at grand even held in Mumbai. The film is set for a worldwide release on Maharashtra Day on 1st of May 2026.  With the film made on a lavish scale, the film is already garnering a massive buzz with anticipation from audience and fans across for its amplified and powerful soundtrack from Ajay-Atul that has gone viral. 


The action-packed trailer showcases an ensemble star cast. 


The ensemble star cast delivers an impactful performance with Genelia Deshmukh shining as Sai Bai while Abhishek Bachchan has stepped in a pivotal role of Sambhaji Shahaji Maharaj.  The film will also feature Sanjay Dutt as Afzal Khan while Vidya Balan will be essaying Badi Begum. Sachin Khedekar as Shahaji Raje Bhosale.  Riteish and Genelia’s son to portray the younger Shivaji in the film. 


The major highlight is Salman Khan in a special cameo is revealed by the makers during its promotion on Bigg Boss Marathi 6.  While details of his role is under wraps the cameo is expected to be quite significant. 


Backed by Jio Studios and produced under Mumbai Film Company and Jyoti Deshpande with Genelia Deshmukh as co-producers, Raja Shivaji is slated for its massive release worldwide on May 1st 2026 in Marathi and Hindi. Interestingly this historical epic Raja Shivaji will have a clash of release with ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ at the box office, setting the stage for an exciting cinematic stiff competition.
