Ranbir Kapoor talks at the 55th edition of IIFI Goa announced
a Raj Kapoor Film Festival to be held across the country as a tribute to the
Legacy of the Mega Showman of Indian Cinema. The film festival will be showcasing
restored movies of his grandfather and the veteran filmmaker Raj Kapoor will be
held across the country to celebrate his birth centenary in December.
Ranbir Kapoor boasts of an illustrious family of filmmakers
and actors starting from his great grandfather legendary Prithviraj Kapoor,
his grandfather Raj Kapoor and his parents Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. Ranbir
undoubtedly has a formidable admiration for the legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor revered as the biggest showman of
the Indian Film Industry, who has been his inspiration in not only acting but filmmaking.
In an insightful conversation with Rahul Rawail celebrating
the legacy of Raj Kapoor, Ranbir shares the inspirations, he took from his
grandfather Raj Kapoor’s huge legacy of Films especially ‘Shree 420’ being his all-time
favourite film. He said, “I love the vagabond who has the stars in his eyes in
Shree 420, its story, frames,music and performances, everything which speaks to
me.”
When asked if he would like to try to do a remake of any of
his grandfather’s classics, Ranbir said, “I don’t believe in film remakes, but
if I have to choose to have a new take on one of his movies, it would be his black-and-white
classic "Shree 420".
