The 70th Filmfare Award was held at EKA Arena in Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Hosted by Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar with their unparallel trademark humor ,warmth alongside Maneish Paul . The event was organized by The Times Group
The Laapataa Ladies led the ceremony with record breaking 24 nominations.
The Filmfare Awards a prestigious ceremony presented by The Times Group which honors the best of the Hindi Language films and this year on 11th October 2025. Laapataa Ladies swept off the major Awards !
Laapataa Ladies alone, one single film that broke all records right from getting nominating for 24 Awards which included the Best Film and Best Director of the film.
Laapataa Ladies led as the teaming win with 13 awards out of 24 nominations. Laapataa Ladies was awarded as the Best Film and Kiran Rao won the Award for the Best Director for the film.
Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol on the Stage on Awards Night
One of the highlights was actress Kajol arriving on the stage to give an award filled with sunflowers and back up dancers. Shah Rukh Khan arrived on the stage soon after with their Iconic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) song Tujhe Dekha To Ye Jaana Saanam playing in the background. SRK known for his charming ways dance to the song and ended it with going down on his knees and handing a rose to Kajol . The scene that recreated from their most popular and famous film DDLJ.
Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan recreate the DDLJ and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai moments on the stage had the fans swooning over them. The famous duo of the Bollywood cinema treated the fans to a 90’s nostalgia with their performance and setting a cute moment between Shah Rukh Khan and his most popular co-star Kajol. The Awards 2025 was nothing short of memorable.
The two stars then shook a leg to the song ‘Ye Ladki Hai Deewani’ from their film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai with the director of the film the co-host Karan Johar cheering for both of them. Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan are one of the most successful on-screen couples of Hindi cinemas. Their last film together was Dilwale in 2016 but their onscreen or off-screen chemistry never declines !! The duo is known to give only super hit films and in the 90’s their films were all time block busters.

The Highlights of the Evening
Besides the most beloved on-screen pair, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol on the stage, the Filmfare Awards night also paid tributes to the 50 years of iconic film, Sholay. The theme was celebrating 70 years of Filmfare and its glowing landmark moments that have over the years shaped Bollywood for over seven decades.
Besides the Laapataa Ladies winning 13 Awards which included the Best Film and Best Director Kiran Rao, the Award for Best Actor co winner was Kartik Aaryan for ‘Chandu Champion’, the co-winner was Abhishek Bachchan for’ I Want to Talk’ . Best Actress is Alia Bhatt for ‘Jigra’ , Critics Award for Best Film is for ‘I want to Talk’.
Moving forward were Rajkummar Rao who won the Best Actor Critics. Pratibha Ranta won the Best Actress Critics Award, Ravi Kishan received the Award for Best Supporting Actor for Laapataa Ladies, Chhaya Kadam for the Best Supporting Actress for Laapataa Ladies and
Zeenat Aman was a co-winner for the Lifetime Achievement Award along with Shyam Benegal as the co-winner for Lifetime Achievement.
