The 62-year-old actor Shekhar Suman talks about the idea for his film academy that came after he observed his father and his impression on the young actors of today.

The veteran actor recently launched his Film Academy in Mumbai where he is going to train the budding actors, ABC of the acting craft. The launch of the Shekar Suman Film Academy will talk about his journey in the film industry. His experiences and the lessons he can impart to the young budding stars.

After being in the film industry as an actor and a stage artist and his successful talk shows, Shekhar Kumar is now a teacher.

Shekhar Suman talks about the new generation of actors and how did he think of the Film Academy

The actor said it has been on his mind for a long time. One of the reasons was that his father was one of the greatest surgeons of the country and also a professor of surgery. Whenever he met his students, he would hear from them, who are now big doctors themselves all over the world but they would remember my father and how because of him they have become proficient doctors today. He said there comes a time in your life that you would like to give it back to people what we have learnt and the concept of the Academy came to his mind watching his father’s legacy in medical field. 

Shekhar Suman started his career at the age of 20-21 and the changes he sees in actors today and back then? 

Shekhar Suman is far more disciplined when character actor lines were given to him. He was professional to the core to bring out the best in him. But today lot of these young actors do not know how to take it up sincerely and perform or approach the role. They probably have the misconception that you say the lines and you are an actor instantly. But that is not the way it works. Today’s generation has completely lost its grip on the language which has become weak and particularly their voice, tone modulation etc. is much needed for the character they will essay in the films. These young stars are not too well aware how to use their voice and that is the biggest weapon of an actor. For example, he stated for Phool they say Fool. The pronunciation is very important and much focus has to be given on that instead of how they look. Whether it’s their hairstyle or make up, the clothes or what they are wearing it makes a great physic but they are definitely getting better that what it was few decades ago. They just need that little guidance and show them the right way.

His biggest learning is that he says is something to learn every day. Every day you discover something new about yourself and about your talent. It’s an ongoing process that never ends with an actor.
