To capture the feel of a little village, the episode was filmed in Charkop, a suburb of Mumbai. The serial focuses on socially significant issues like child marriage and the practise of "sati." Hansa, a little girl who is married off at a very young age, is the primary character. Her spouse inexplicably passes away the day before she gets married, leaving her a widow. She is under a lot of strain, but she fights tenaciously against social ills rather than complying with traditional expectations of what a widow should do.
