Devaiah’s film career started with Anurag Kashyap’s feature film That Girl in Yellow Boots alongside Kalki Koechlin and Naseeruddin Shah in 2020. At the Toronto International Film Festival, the film was screened followed by its screening at the Venice Film Festival. Devaiah had essayed the role of Chitiappa in the film. In 2011, he appeared in Rohan Sippy’s Crime thriller film Dum Maaro Dum. The film starring Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Rana Daggubati and Prateik Babbar. He played the role of Ricky.
In the same year Gulshan Devaiah acted in Bejoy Nambiar’s Hindi thriller Shaitan alongside of Rajeev Khandelwal and Kalki Koechlin. He had portrayed the role of Karan Chaudhary, KC in the film which was released in June 2011. The film was critically acclaimed and was a commercial success.
For his role in the film Shaitan, he was nominated for several awards which included the Filmfare Awards, Screen Awards, Stardust Awards and Apsara Films and Television Producers Guild Awards in the Best Male Debut category and also for the Best Supporting Actor’s Role.
In the 2012 ensemble of actors, Devaiah appeared in Vivek Agnihotri’s erotic thriller film Hate Story which was produced by Vikram Bhatt . He co-starred with Paoli Dam in a lead role where he has essayed the antagonistic role of Siddharth Dhanrajgir, the son of rich business tycoon. The film was a sleeper hit.
In the same year Devaiah acted in another crime thriller film Peddlers alongside of Nimrat Kaur. A story of a young boy trapped in drug trade. The film had premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
In 2013, Devaiah appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s romantic tragedy drama film Ram-Leela starring alongside of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. He played the role of Bhavani in the block buster film of the year.
In 2015, Gulshan Devaiah acted in the film Hunterrr by Harshvardhan Kulkarni. An adult comedy, co-starring Radhika Apte He portrayed the role of sex addicted man Mandar Ponkshe. The film did well at the box office.
In 2016, Devaiah played the role of an NRI in Vivek Agnihotri’s film Junooniyat. He had by then signed 3 more films between 2016 and 2017 such as Cabaret, A Death in the Gunj and CandyFlip. He had essayed double role as twin brothers. Karate Mani and Jimmy in the action-comedy film called Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota . For this film he won the Best Supporting Actor Screen Awards.
In 2020, he played the role of Buraq Ansari in the action film Commando 3 which had appeared on Amazon Prime’s Drama series Afson and on Netflix the original film Ghost Stories.
