Sharad Singh is actor for his versatile performances across Hindi films, theatres, television and web series. He rose from the ranks of intense theatre Rangmanch and carved a niche for himself in the Bollywood traditional film industry. He showcased a steady transition from independent parallel cinema to mainstream commercial projects.
In the late 1990’s and 2010’s, he played realistic character roles often portraying as tough men, like police officers or authoritative figures in the films. His early filmography included smaller roles where he appeared in gritty dramas such as Pratha in 1996 alongside Irrfan Khan, or in Lakhan in 1997 with Raja Bundela, Kajri and Aakhir Kab Tak released in 2010. The later film had earned him his Best Actor recognition at the Madhya Pradesh Film Festival. He has the talent to blend seamlessly into the realistic narratives led to collaborations with acclaimed filmmaker Prakash Jha. He secured roles in Jha’s major socio-political dramas.
Singh has played a personal assistant alongside Manoj Bajpayee in Aarakshan in 2011 and in Chakravyuh in 2012 which explored the Naxalite conflict.
