"With MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Sushant Singh Rajput has become immortal Sushant Singh himself believes that in his brief career of over 7 years in TV and Film, he has not played a role as powerful as Mahendra Singh Dhoni in MS Dhoni: the Untold Story. However to get into the skin of the character, Sushant had to work painstaking for over 6 months. In an interview he confided, “When film director Neeraj Pandey selected me for the title role in MS Dhoni: the Untold Story, I knew it was a make or break film for me because to live a legend, who is alive was a hard nut to crack. I had to master his cricketing style, his mannerisms, his body language and his diction. Hence I began my home work by studying books and watching video about him but it failed to satisfy my creative needs.” He added, “Hence I decided to meet Dhoni, personally. Believe it or not I asked him a quick fire 250 odds question to study his likes and dislike, which Dhoni obliged without arrogance.” Sushant informed, “The second part of learning cricket was too tiresome because it took me 4-5 months to learn the basics of cricket under famous cricketer Kiran More. He would fix the bowling machine and I would play every shot 200-300 times a day, for three to four hours daily and this helped me in perfecting the typical helicopter shot of Dhoni, that I portrayed flawless” The movie was a huge success and Sushant Singh won a lot of reviews for his excellent performance. He won the prestigious Screen Awards Best Actor (Critics) for his role in the film. The actor regretted that Film fare Awards only nominated him but did not award him in best actor award category. In a statement, he lamented that the film ought to win many awards but was given Nelson Eye. Nevertheless with M.S. Dhoni- The Untold Story, Sushant Singh has become immortal and shall be remembered for centuries for his brilliant act. "

Sushant Singh Rajput selected his passion over Engineering Coming from a middle class family Sushant Singh Rajput wanted to earn money and give his family the taste of a royal life. Hence his family insisted that he become an engineer. Sushant was a brilliant student. He was a national Olympiad winner in Physics. Being gifted in academics Sushant Singh Rajput put his heart and soul and was able to clear the AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Exam) with flying colors. He secured rank 7 and even won a scholarship for studying Mechanical Engineering at the Delhi College of Engineering. However during the course he realized his inclination to towards and drama. Felling suffocated to select between a lucrative engineering career and his passion for arts, Sushant was in tight corners. Eventually he decided to follow his heart and quit the four years Engineering Course in the third year. He drew flaks from parents and close relatives. Even his college students and teachers mocked his absurd decision but Sushant was confident of making it big! Shiamak Davar boosted Sushant Singh’s confidence Readers would be shocked to known that Sushant Singh had initially joined Shiamak Daver's dancing classes to watch ‘Hot Girl’ and not for passion in dancing. On TV at Niranjan Iyengar's famous talk show 'Look Who's Talking with Niranjan - Season 2' Sushant Singh made this startling revelation. He said, “I and my friends used to sell peanut to hunt ‘Hot Girl’ when someone suggested us that dance classes have many ‘Hot Girls’. Hence, I joined Shiamak Davar's dance class and danced behind all the big stars but one day Shiamak Davar noticed me and put me in the front row and boosted my confidence.” He added, “I was a shy guy but he brought out my personality and gave me opportunity at many events, including at the 51st Film fare Awards, at Commonwealth Games (2006) etc.” Sushant Singh moved to Mumbai to make career in films At Shiamak Davar’s classes Sushant developed a knack for acting and to make his dream come true he came to Mumbai. Here he devoted his energies into learning the basics of acting, dance and action. Hence he joined theatre guru Barry John, who groomed ShahRukh Khan. Under Ashley Lobo, he mastered dance and from Allan Amin he polished his action and learnt martial arts. Further he assisted film director Mohit Suri during the making of Raaz 2 to gain practical knowledge about the making of cinema. And last but not the least he joined Nadira Babbar's Ekjute theatre group and for over two and half years he did stage and learnt the craft working under theatre giants like Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Pankaj Kapoor etc. Balaji Telefilms spotted Sushant Singh at Ekjute theatre group Sushant Singh recalls, “When I was doing theater in 2008, I was spotted by Balaji Telefilms’s cast director, who had seen me act during one of the plays at Ekjute theatre group. He was impressed by my performance and invited me for an audition. I did the audition and Ekta Kapoor, director of Balaji Telefilms signed me for the role of Preet Juneja in Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil.” Though Sushant Singh had a small role but his character became quite popular and Shushat became a household name. The success of his character can be gauged from the fact that despite Shushant being killed in the serial, he was brought back, on viewers demand, for the series finale in the form of a spirit! Later Sushant Singh became a big star in Television world with serials like Pavitra Rishta, Zara Nachke Dikha 2, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4 etc.

After signing Kai Po Che, I quit the idea of going to UCLA.” Sushant Singh gained maximum success from Kai Po Che Kai Po Che, was based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel titled The 3 Mistakes of My Life. The movie had three heroes Sushant Rajput, Rajkumar Rao, and Amit Sadh but the actor who stole thunder was Sushant Singh. He took away all the laurels. Both film buffs and critics raved about his performance. He won the prestigious Screen and Star Guild Awards for Best debut! Sushant Singh gets big entry into Yash Raj Films Though Kai Po Che was a small budget film yet it did extraordinary business at box office and this opened Yash Chopra’s banner for Sushant Singh. He was signed for a three year contract and did two hit films ‘Suhdh Desi Romance’ and ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy’. Both the movies, interestingly, did an average business on the box office. Sushant Singh signed by Rajkumar Hirani in PK After the big Yash Chopra banner, Shushant Singh was signed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra for his film PK, staring Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma. Though Sushant had a cameo in the film, yet the role was very important and top stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan and Shahid Kapoor were in race for the role but Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir Khan found Shushant Singh appropriate for the role, which Shushnat did with great sincerity and won applause. Few may be aware that Shushant Singh did not charge anything for the film; he just took Rs 21/- as Good –Will signing amount!
