Rajiv Kapoor has been one of the film personalities of the bygone era of Bollywood, who has made his presence known in the various areas of cinema like acting, direction and has also served as the producer of his home productions along with his brothers. Kapoor in a selective filmography has been part of some of the most memorable film is Indian film industry like Henna , Ram Teri Ganga Maili , and more. Born to a highly successful film family, Kapoor had made a niche for himself in Bollywood and also has stood out with his own works from his established film family.

Rajiv Kapoor was born as “Virgoan the third son of legendary showman Raj Kapoor. Born to a deep rooted film family in the Kapoor clan and. Born amidst the glamour and buzz of Bollywood Kapoor invariably landed in Hindi cinema in the year 1983. His brothers are actors like Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor. He is related to yesteryear actresses like Neetu Singh Kapoor, Babita Kapoor. Current generation actors like Kunal Kapoor ,Karan Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor ,Kareena Kapoor and also to the current Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor which forms the entire Kapoor clan.

Rajiv Kapoor in the past was married to Aarti Sabharwal, an architect by profession but the duo due to difference of opinions which led to their divorce later one after a two year marriage in 2003.In the past he was reported to be in a relationship with actress Divya Rana.

Film debut and subsequent films ( 1983-1986) Rajiv Kapoor made his film debut in Rajiv Mehra’s drama film Ek Jaan Hain Hum, which had him playing the male lead along with Rakesh Bedi, Shammi Kapoor, Divya Rana and many more.The movie which featured him as typical Bollywood hero of the times who falls in love with a girl only to have major set backs in the love life later on and the movie at the time of release had good reviews. He followed up by appearing in Aasmaan, where he appeared in a double role which narrated the story of an imposter who comes in place of a lookalike real soldier to his home only to be greeted slowly with suspicion among the close ones and proved to be a strong performance for him yet again but was an major underperformer of 1984. After three more uneventful outings in Mere Saathi and Lava and Zabardast in the year 2005 Kapoor was finally cast by his father in his final directorial project Ram Teri Ganga Maili , where he co-starred with Mandakini and Divya Rana . The movie was a blockbuster hit on release and caught the limelight for all the wrong season including nudity on show by the lead lady Mandakini but went on to be critical success too and was a breather for Kapoor who was suffering with a serious of underperforming outings to his name. The Lover Boy which followed up in the same year saw which saw him again donning a dual role as two identical twins who swap their respective identities in their attempt to woo a girl. Unsuccessful acting ventures (1986-1990) Rajiv Kapoor however could not capitalize on vast opportunities served to him with major let-downs movies like Preethi, Zalzala, Shukriya and Hum To Chale Pardes which were array of releases during the year’s 1986 to 1988 .His last two releases as an actor were the disasters Naag Nagin and Zimmedaar in 1990. Films as Producer/Director ( 1991- 1999) After an unsuccessful stint as an actor , Rajiv Kapoor went on to bank roll the project Henna , which was incidentally considered to be his father’s last movie with half of the portions being shot by him before his untimely death and his brother Randhir Kapoor going on to helm the rest of the movie. The movie which starred the other Kapoor sibling Rishi Kapoor in the lead along with Zeba Bakhtiar and Aswini Bhave was a huge hit in the box office and was widely accepted by the critics and also was India’s submission into the Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film category for the year 1991. He then served as the director for the first time in his brother Randhir Kapoor’s production Prem Granth, starring Rishi Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit , although it panned out to be a commercial failure and is the only film helmed by him in his career. He then after a three year gap came back by producing his brother Rishi Kapoor ’s debut directorial Aa Ab Laut Chalen , which had an ensemble star cast consisting of Rajesh Khanna, Akshay Khanna and Aiswarya Rai . The romantic drama although fetched positive reviews ending up as yet another failure.
